Manly's Little Penguins

Penguin's at RISK

Manly's little penguin colony has dwindled from around 300 birds to about 60 breeding pairs over the last 50 years. The colony became depleted with just 35penguins in the 1990's. This was caused by habitat loss, attacks by dogs, shooting, nest disturbances, thoughtless littering and illegal fishing just to name a few causes. Manly's penguins are not captive, they do not come into their borrows at settimes. little penguins spend 2-3 years of their life at sea then return to breed between july and march. they live for around 8 years but may live longer in captivity.
